Neapolitan Grain Pie PDF Print

Intriguing legends and folklore have been speculated for centuries about the origins of this ancient recipe.

For example it has been said that many many years ago, seven sailors were stranded at sea after a terrible storm. A mermaid took pity on them and commanded the winds to blow them all on the crest of a single wave and deposit them delicately on the shore. The very next day the brides gathered on the shore of their husband’s salvation to thank the generous mermaid, each one bearing a gift, wheat, fresh ricotta, sugar, eggs, flour, candied fruits and orange blossom. The mermaid accepted their gifts and took them with her back to the sea. The day after on the shore there was a fragrant sweet...it was born the Neapolitan Grain Pie "Pastiera".

Our Pastiera is a "fruit" not just of a tradition that happens again, but above all of the extreme cure into the ingredients handwork to realize a soft and friable pastry, made of selected fresh butter, that preserves the stuffing aromi.

It is an "unmistakable" taste thanks to the weath grains, the very good candied fruits, the fresh ricotta and soft fragrance of the orange blossom that "tells" all the armony of the Mediterranean aromi.
